Investments in exploration and production of oil and gas in the world increased by 24% compared to 2020.

Investments in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the world in 2023 increased by almost a quarter compared to 2020, amid increased attention to energy security. This assessment is contained in Gazprom’s message, TASS reports.
“Taking into account the uncertainty in the development of the global energy market, many countries are seeing increased attention to energy security issues. Global investments in exploration and production of hydrocarbons in 2023 amounted to 124% of the 2020 level,” the company said in a statement following a meeting of the board of directors.
The company's board of directors also noted that fossil fuels will remain the basis of the global energy mix in the long term. “At the same time, the role of natural gas in the global energy balance will continue to grow,” Gazprom believes.
