The last day of November is World Pet Day, which has been celebrated for more than eight decades. Its idea is to remind the people of responsibility for“our little brothers”. In honor of this holiday, there are actions calling for people to create shelters and clinics for animals, organization of special exhibitions with the participation of dogs and cats. Some pet owners allow them to do things that were not allowed before, spend more time with their feathered or four-legged friends.Aijahan ATABALLYEVA
All that these nice but such defenseless creatures need is love and care. They feel the attention they are receiving from the people. Therefore, the main goal of the events, held in the framework of this holiday, is to teach people be kind not only to living beings, but to the surrounding nature, and, most importantly, to be responsible for those pets that we domesticate.
There are also several shelters for cats and dogs in Turkmenistan, which have been established and exist voluntarily, one of these initiatives, the Center for Assisting the Homeless Animals “Island of Hope”, was created with the State support. Indeed, the Center gives our four-legged friends, who ended up without owners, hope for the future. They receive the necessary treatment, regular meals, and most importantly, the care that is so important to these helpless creatures.
Also, animals undergo veterinary examination and drug treatment if necessary. Recently, the Ministry of Healthcare of the country handed over to the Center another donation of medicines.
