Turkmenistan’s merchant marine increased cargo transportation by 21.6%
Cargo transportation by vessels of the Merchant Marine Fleet of Turkmenistan in January-November 2023 increased by 21.6% compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 2.06 million tons. The number of containers transported amounted to 3,846 TEU, the growth rate was 277.3%, the press service of JSC “Merchant Marine” reports.
In general, the fleet’s cargo transportation plan for January-November 2023 was fulfilled by 129.4%.
The growth of cargo transportation in the company is primarily associated with an increase in export shipments of crude oil and petroleum products, as well as general and transit cargo that pass through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
Cargo turnover for 11 months of 2023 amounted to 867.149 million ton-km (+19.1%), passenger turnover — 8.54 million passenger-km (+56.4%). The implementation of the plan amounted to 245.9%.
