Five more Turkish values have been added to the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage
Five more values of Turkey have been added to the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List includes a dossier entitled “Illuminated Painting”, which was prepared jointly with Azerbaijan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, with the coordination of Turkey; “Iftar and socio-cultural traditions associated with Iftar”, prepared jointly with Turkey, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan with the coordination of Iran; “Mei/Balaban Craftsmanship and Performance” prepared jointly by Turkey under the coordination of Azerbaijan, “The Art of Mother of Pearl Inlay” prepared jointly with Azerbaijan under the coordination of Turkey and “Traditional Knowledge, Methods and Practices of Olive Cultivation in Turkey”.
Relevant decisions were made at the 18th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Kasane, Republic of Botswana.
Thus, the number of cultural elements included in the List from Turkey has reached 30. The Republic took 2nd place in the list of countries that included the largest number of objects on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
