For the first time in Central Asia, a digital installation for the treatment of cancer will appear in Almaty

For the first time in Central Asia, namely in Almaty, a digital innovative system will be installed for the treatment of cancer patients with point targeted irradiation. The Ministry of Health of the Republic stated that the new installation “opens up new prospects for the treatment of cancer patients,” sputnik.kz reports.
“The introduction of point targeted irradiation for malignant tumors has become a significant step in providing highly accurate and individually tailored treatment for patients,” the statement says.
The system is able to track the patient's breathing and automatically adjust the direction of the beams in accordance with his breathing movements.
The department noted that every day about 100 cancer patients receive treatment in the radiation therapy department of the Almaty Oncology Center. This treatment method is vital both for patients in the early stages of the disease and for prolonging and improving the quality of life in the later stages of the disease.
Kazakhstan will also be the first in Central Asia to begin providing proton therapy for cancer patients at the new National Scientific Oncology Center in Astana. The new center is a budget investment project, for the implementation of which leading international companies from Switzerland and the USA were attracted.
In an institution for 6 thousand patients per year, it is planned to conduct radionuclide diagnostics, produce radiopharmaceuticals and conduct radionuclide therapy.
Also, a mobile medical complex was purchased for the Kyzylorda Cancer Center. The complex was purchased for the region by the public fund “Kazakhstan Khalkyna”.
A mobile medical complex consisting of two vehicles is equipped with digital mammography equipment with tomosynthesis function, an expert-level ultrasound system and a computed tomograph with high research accuracy. The equipment is made in Japan. Medical equipment of this class and configuration is being put into operation in Kazakhstan for the first time.
