Uzbekistan and the UAE will mutually recognize driver's licenses


The Ministers of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and the UAE signed a memorandum on mutual recognition of driver's licenses. It is expected to come into force on January 27, 2024. UAE residents with Uzbekistan driving licenses will also be exempt from taking exams when obtaining an Emirati license.
With its entry into force, citizens of both countries will have the right to drive vehicles with a national driver's license while visiting the territory of another country (with the exception of those who come for long-term residence).
In addition, citizens of Uzbekistan who are residents of the UAE (who have received the right of long-term residence) and who have a national driver's license will be exempt from taking exams to obtain an Emirati driver's license, gazeta.uz reports.
The delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also discussed with their Emirati colleagues issues of joint fight against transnational organized crime, terrorism, extremism, human trafficking and cybercrime.
