The winners of the EU competitions from Central Asia study the Latvian experience of energy efficiency

Students, young researchers and specialists, as well as representatives of the most energy–efficient schools from Central Asian countries visited Latvia on a study tour "Promoting energy efficiency - the Latvian experience". In total, 12 representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan took part in the event at the invitation of the European Union. They are the winners of the EU competitions #Reels4SustainableEnergy and for the best mural design in the field of sustainable energy, as well as representatives of schools nominated for the title of "The most energy efficient school" among secondary schools in Central Asian capitals, according to the page of the Press and Information Department of the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan.Students, young researchers and specialists, as well as representatives of the most energy–efficient schools from Central Asian countries visited Latvia on a study tour "Promoting energy efficiency - the Latvian experience". The study tour organized by the EU-funded project "Sustainable Energy Connection in Central Asia" (SECCA) from November 27 to December 1, 2023 demonstrates Latvia's successful examples in the field of energy efficiency and energy conservation implemented by the public and private sectors.

SECCA key expert Ms. Ilse Purina addressed the participants: "It is encouraging to see that more and more young people are involved in environmental and climate action. Our main goal in organizing this study tour is to support young people and people who teach young people to acquire new knowledge and skills for the transition to green energy. I hope that this experience will inspire you to further work and research and thus contribute to the sustainable future of your countries."

During the trip, the participants met with experts and specialists from the Latvian Ministry of Economy, the Riga Energy Agency, the Riga Digital Agency, the Riga Technical University, the University of Children and Youth, the University of Future Engineers, the Electrum Energy Efficiency Center, etc. The host organizations presented their experience in promoting energy efficiency through various activities, including building renovation, sustainable construction, efficient use of resources, public engagement, student education and participation in innovation processes, as well as support for startups.
