An informal meeting of the heads of state of the CIS member countries will take place on December 26 in St. Petersburg. This was announced by CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev.

“Two important events will also be held in St. Petersburg on December 25-26. This is the Supreme Council of the EAEU at the level of presidents on December 25, and on the 26th an informal meeting of the presidents of the CIS countries is expected,” he said before the start of the regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives of the Commonwealth member countries at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk.

Lebedev noted that “President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, invited his colleagues to St. Petersburg on December 26 in order to traditionally communicate in an informal setting over the past years, discuss current issues, and exchange opinions,” according to the website of the CIS Executive Committee.

Lebedev also announced that an extraordinary meeting of the heads of government of the CIS countries will take place on December 18.

“The meeting of the heads of government of the CIS is an extraordinary meeting on the initiative of the Russian Federation. It is expected that it will take place in Moscow on December 18 on the initiative of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Premiers of the CIS countries will gather to exchange their assessments of the CIS activities at the end of the year and discuss current issues, Sergei Lebedev said.
