A meeting of the Azerbaijani-Turkmen intergovernmental commission was held in Ashgabat


The 7th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan was held in Ashgabat. The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Atdayev from the Turkmen side, and Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov from the Azerbaijani side.

The meeting participants noted that there are good prospects for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in various fields, noted the importance of holding regular business events to identify new areas of cooperation and discussed economic and investment initiatives that meet common interests.

As it was indicated, in 2022 the trade turnover of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan increased by more than 5 times, the growth trend continued in 2023. There is a great potential for further increase in trade turnover due to the expansion of the range of products supplied. The free trade regime between the countries has a positive effect on the growth of trade turnover, creating incentives for mutual investment.

There are great opportunities for cooperation in various fields of industry, food security, port cooperation, energy, customs, transport, agriculture and other fields.
In conclusion, a protocol was signed on the results of the 7th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Turkmen joint intergovernmental commission. The document provides for the expansion of partnership in trade, industry, energy, transport, agriculture and other areas.

As reported by AZERTAC, within the framework of a working visit to Turkmenistan, the Azerbaijani delegation took part in the opening ceremony of the international exhibition Agro Pack Turkmenistan 2023. At the exhibition, where innovative production mechanisms were presented, the delegation got acquainted with the services of international companies engaged in industry, agriculture, food, ICT sector, construction, logistics, textile and other fields, as well as with innovations that ensure increased economic efficiency, rational use of resources, modern solutions for various sectors of the economy.
