Romanian Culture Days festival in Ashgabat: what, where, when

This week, on November 29th and 30th, Romanian Culture Days festival will be held in Ashgabat. The program of events will include a photo exhibition of the National Museum of Romanian History, a concert of classical Romanian music, an exhibition of works of applied art and national clothes, and showing the movies. The creative meetings with the specialists of the National Museum of the History of Romania, the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum and master classes by the Romanian opera singer Irina Iordachescu will be held within the framework of the Culture Days festival.

The National Museum of Romanian History is the largest museum in the country that was established in 1950. It has about 60 thousand exhibits, 3 thousand of which are objects of European art. A photographic collection of the museum arrived in Turkmenistan. After the Photo Vernissage the spectators are waiting for the concert of classical Romanian music with the participation of the famous Romanian opera singer Irina Iordachescu (soprano) and the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan. Traditions and folkloric motifs are very strong in the Romanian musical culture, as well as in the Turkmen culture, while the influence of the cultures of other peoples is also felt in it. Romanian music is known for usage of many instruments in one melody, especially folk string and wind instruments.

Exhibition of works of applied art and national clothes of Romania in the Museum of Fine Arts will be opened on Thursday at 10:00

In the decorative and applied art of Romania, first of all, cross-stitch embroidery attracts. Romanians embroider with woolen, cotton threads, use beads, sequins when sewing. The country, just like Turkmenistan, is known for carpet weaving, masters of art pottery and stone carvings are famous. The Romanian national male costume includes a white shirt and white pants made of canvas or wool. Leather or woolen belt and a tank top are mandatory elements of the costume. Headdress is a fur (caracul) hat. The outer clothing is sewn from cloth or sheepskin fur, decorated with ornaments. Female traditional costume consists of a long shirt and a skirt, which is not sewn. It is held on a narrow embroidered belt. The shirt and the hem of the skirt are often decorated with an ornament. The women should wear the shawl or a helmet hat in their hair. Both men and women supplement any clothing with sleeveless jackets made of cloth or velvet. They also like the colorful fur waistcoats.

And the National Musical and Drama Theater named after Makhtumkuli invites to a concert of Romanian artists at 16:00

The masters of the arts of Romania will hold meetings with Turkmen colleagues and students of creative universities these days. Within the framework of the Culture Days festival, a creative meeting of the specialists of the National Museum of History of Romania and the National Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum with Turkmen colleagues will be organized in the Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan. Opera singer of Romania Irina Iordachescu will hold master classes for students of the Turkmen National Conservatory. Being an actress of the National Opera of Bucharest, she is a laureate of many international competitions. Therefore, the master class from the opera diva will become a good training for our young vocalists on the way of conquering the world opera scene. Irina Iordachescu will also perform at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Romanian Culture Days festival.
