The qualifying stage of the Turkmenistan Chess Championship was held in Lebap

The third qualifying stage of the Turkmenistan Championship, I League, which took place from November 13 to 17, ended in the Lebap region. Schoolchildren Ulugbek Matnazarov and Yunus Joraev scored 7.5 points out of 9 possible and distinguished themselves from the rest of their opponents. The winner of the bronze medal of the tournament also had to be determined by additional indicators. Schoolchildren Serdar Bayramov and Ilkhan Charyev were half a point behind the leaders. Thanks to the better Buchholz coefficient, Serdar took third place.

In the women's tournament, as expected, the winner of the Asian Championship among schoolchildren, Gulmira Seilkhanova, proved her superiority. She scored 8 points out of 9 possible and broke away from her closest pursuers by 1.5 points.

Three participants competed for second place: Maral Rozyeva, Dzhakhan Redjepova and Aya Bayramova. According to additional indicators, the coach from the Farab region, Maral Rozyeva, won the silver medal, and the schoolgirl Jahan Rejepova won the bronze medal.

The tournament was held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds. Time control - 60 minutes for the entire game with an addition of 30 seconds after each move. 121 participants took part in the tournament. The results and statistics of the competition are available at this link

As reported by the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, the next qualifying stage of the country's championship, I League, and the last one this year, will be held in the Mary region from November 20 to 24.
