Eco-friendly Christmas lights were switched on in Paris

There is still more than a month until Christmas, but the festive season has already opened in one of the main European cities of Paris. The central street of the city was lit up with Christmas lights, Euronews reports.

The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, and the president of the Champs-Élysées Committee, Marc-Antoine Jamet.

As Marc-Antoine Jamet reported, these lights are particularly environmentally friendly. After all, the energy consumption of the lights on the Champs-Elysees is equivalent to the energy consumption of an apartment inhabited by four people.

“Since 2007, we have been able to reduce energy use by 98% through changes in processes, equipment, supply,” he said.
