Turkmenistan convenes an international forum on World Sustainable Transport Day


Turkmenistan is convening an international forum on World Sustainable Transport Day, which will be celebrated for the first time this year. Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers, Mammetkhan Chakyev, informed about the preparation of a major event at a meeting of the Turkmen government on Friday. This was reported in the news release of the Turkmen State Radio and Television.
The forum, entitled “Sustainable Transport – Contribution to Sustainable Development,” will be held on November 26 and will combine a scientific and practical conference in a hybrid format and an industry exhibition.
Representatives of authoritative international, regional and subregional transport structures, large companies, etc. are invited to participate. The conference will discuss topics covering interstate cooperation, development of international transport and transit corridors, use of the capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, achieving sustainable development in the field of air communications and etc.
The resolution declaring November 26 (on this day in Ashgabat, in 2016, the first UN Global Conference on Sustainable Transport) as World Sustainable Transport Day was adopted by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan on May 16, 2023.
