Turkmenistan elected to the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee on Physical Culture and Sports


Turkmenistan was unanimously elected to the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee on Physical Education and Sports (CIGEPS) for 2023-2027.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov reported this to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during a government meeting on Friday.
The Intergovernmental Committee on Physical Education and Sport promotes the role and value of sport and its importance for public policy. It is composed of representatives of experts in the field of physical education and sport from the 18 Member States of UNESCO, each of which is elected for a four-year term. Advisory members, which include UN agencies, key sports federations and non- governmental organizations, provide technical support and advice to the Committee.
