The digital tenge was launched in Kazakhstan

As part of the XI Congress of Kazakhstani financiers taking place in Almaty, a pilot launch of the national digital currency, the “digital tenge,” took place. This was reported by the press service of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
“This year, today, together with you, we will launch the digital tenge into retail circulation. Next year, we look forward to large-scale development of the platform together with our partners, participants in the financial market,” Binur Zhalenov, Chairman of the National Payment Corporation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, who carried out the first transaction using digital tenge said.
The corresponding platform launched by the National Bank of the Republic allows bank clients to take advantage of digital tenge by opening a digital account in the mobile application of the servicing bank.
As Binur Zhalenov noted, as a result of cooperation between Kazakh banks and global payment systems, a technology that integrates existing payment cards with the digital tenge platform has been created. This, in turn, allows you to pay in the national digital currency of Kazakhstan anywhere in the world using ApplePay, SamsungPay and other devices.
By 2025, the republic plans to connect all market participants to the new platform and begin to use the digital tenge as a means for cross-border payments.
