Turkish Airlines and Emirates to buy Airbus and Boeing planes
The global aviation industry is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. This is evidenced by the large transactions at the international air show, which takes place in Dubai.
A multibillion-dollar contract for the supply of 355 aircraft was signed by Airbus, one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world, and Turkish national carrier Turkish Airlines.
Thus, the agreement includes the order of 345 aircraft: 250 A321neo aircraft; 75 A350-900 aircraft; 15 A350-1000 aircraft; 5 A350F cargo aircraft. Deliveries of 10 more A350-900 aircraft were agreed earlier.
In total, as part of the implementation of its growth strategy, Turkish Airlines intends to purchase 600 aircraft.
One of the world's largest airlines Emirates and Boeing Co. signed a contract for the purchase of aircraft for $ 52 billion. The transaction took place in the presence of the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.
As a result of the deal, Emirates will acquire 90 Boeing 777 aircraft, 55 of them - variants 777-9 and 35 - 777-8. According to the CEO and chairman of the Board of Emirates Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the carrier will also add five more 787 Dreamliners to the previous order for 30 aircraft.
"This is a long—term commitment that supports hundreds of thousands of jobs not only at Boeing, but throughout the global aviation supply chain," he said, stressing that the Boeing 777 is at the center of Emirates' strategy to connect cities of all continents nonstop to Dubai.
Another UAE state-owned airline, FlyDubai, which is part of the Emirates Group, has ordered 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft worth $ 11 billion. They will be the first wide-body aircraft in the company's fleet.
Other deals worth billions of dollars are expected as part of the Dubai International Air Show.
According to the International Air Transport Association, the volume of air traffic is now 97% of the level before COVID-19.
