The first relaxation championship was held in Japan, the participants of which were forbidden to do anything. Information about this is posted on the official website of the Space-Out Competition.

More than 100 participants took part in the tournament: from teenagers to 60-year-old residents of Japan. The rules of the competition required them to sit motionless or lie with their eyes open for an hour and a half. Participants who laughed or closed their eyes risked disqualification. You couldn’t use a smartphone, read, talk, or even look at your watch.

The winner was determined by pulse - every 15 minutes the organizers checked the participants' heart rate; it had to be low but stable. Three dancers from the same team became the finalists of the tournament.

The most interesting thing is that such competitions also had an audience that closely watched what was happening and could compete with the “athletes” in idleness.

The Space-Out Competition appeared in South Korea in 2014. The tournament was created by local artist Woopsiang. In her opinion, such competitions help fight burnout. Every year the event attracted more and more participants around the world - in addition to South Korea and Japan, such events took place in the Netherlands and China.
