The city of Mary was proposed to be nominated for the status of the tourist capital of the ECO in 2027
The city of Mary has been proposed to nominate a candidate for the status of the tourist capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization for 2027. This proposal was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov at a government meeting on Friday.
The Minister presented several more proposals prepared for the practical implementation of the initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan, expressed at the 16th ECO Summit in Tashkent.
Thus, it is proposed to hold the first ECO Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Development in the first quarter of 2024 in the city of Arkadag. Work is also to be carried out on the ratification of the ECO Framework Agreement on Transit Transport and its Protocol.
In the speech of Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the Summit, the topic of activation of cross-border and regional trade was raised. In this context, it is proposed to work out the issue of creating border trade zones with the involvement of ECO experts in this work.
A proposal concerning the representation of Turkmenistan in the ECO, other international and regional organizations was also submitted for consideration by the President, the Turkmen State Television news outlet reported.
