Cat Patrol: Filipino security guards adopt stray cats

Pictured: A cat wearing a black and yellow safety vest casually walks past security guards lined up outside a Philippine office building awaiting instructions for their shift.
This is Conan, a former stray kitten who a few months ago joined the security team at the World Corporate Center in the Philippine capital of Manila. He is one of the lucky ones unofficially adopted by security guards in a city where thousands of cats live on the streets.
Although cats lack the security skills of dogs and tend to sleep on the job, they have attracted the attention of bored security guards working 12-hour shifts. Furry friends liven up their shift.
Conan is one of more than a dozen stray cats who have found shelter in a commercial building, where they are allowed to roam and employees are allowed to buy food for their adorable dependents.
Despite being so lucky, Conan shows little interest in helping his human colleagues perform their security duties, such as checking the bags of shoppers and workers as they enter a building.
Instead, he prefers to sleep, lounge in front of the nearest Starbucks, or kick balls around on the tile floor, much to the delight of passers-by. Conan is very friendly and playful, and this touches visitors who are not averse to giving him a few minutes of attention, distracting themselves from urgent matters. Yes, he really enjoys his job!
