The Turkmen delegation took part in the 73rd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe


The Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Head of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service Azat Ovezov, met with Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, Dr. Hans Kluge as part of participation in the 73rd session of the Regional Committee for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the press service of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kazakhstan, during the meeting, the Deputy Minister presented to the Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe the latest initiatives and proposals put forward by the Government of Turkmenistan in the international arena in the field of health. Thus, Turkmenistan’s focus on further development and strengthening of cooperation with WHO is confirmed.
Issues of interaction and current topics in the field of international health were discussed at the meeting. Both sides noted the high level of cooperation and exchanged views on current issues in the field of health care.
As part of the event, the head of the Turkmen delegation also spoke at the panel session “Strategic governance and leadership in the WHO European Region”. He presented information on comprehensive and effective preventive measures in Turkmenistan to combat non-communicable diseases, as well as ensuring equal access to quality medical care for all citizens through the development of medical infrastructure.
The Deputy Minister also shared information about plans to hold various health events in Turkmenistan next year.
Dr. Hans Kluge noted that WHO positively assesses the significant reforms being carried out in the health care system of Central Asian countries, and also expressed support for these initiatives.
