China hosts 5th Central Asia Cooperation Forum
On 2 August, the 5th China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum was hosted by Lianyungang city, reports Chinese media.
The forum under the top-urgency agenda “Building a Silk Road Cooperation Bridge and Promoting Peaceful Development and Prosperity” has been attended by more than 200 delegates from China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
Turkmenistan was represented by country’s Ambassador to China Chinar Rustamova.
This year marks 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Central Asian nations. The political mutual trust has been continuously strengthened, pragmatic practical cooperation is steadily expanding, humanitarian exchanges are becoming increasingly close and effective, says China Radio International referring to Wang Qinmin, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Council.
The speakers from Central Asian had highlighted that the cooperation between the region and China witnessed recently the rapid growth in such areas as economy, trade, investment, energy, agriculture, education, science and technology, sports, tourism and culture.
According to Xinhua, on the sidelines of the event, the governorate of Lianyungang and Central Asian countries have signed a number of cooperation agreements regarding such key areas as production, logistics, tourism and education.
Lianyungang, located in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu, maintains business relations with the ports of more than 160 countries and operates 54 maritime traffic lines to various destinations of the world.
In the frames of One Belt, One Road initiative, China considers that Lianyungang can provide the Central Asian countries with convenient access to the sea and the route of international cargo transportation to the region.
