Judoka Maysa Pardayeva brought the first medal to the Turkmen team's piggy bank at the XIX Asian Games, which started on September 23 in Hangzhou, China.

As the ORIENT correspondent was informed in the Judo Federation of Turkmenistan, the athlete was awarded a bronze medal in the weight category up to 57 kg.

In the preliminary round, Pardayeva defeated the representative of Nepal Pradhan Shkhredsa.

At the next stage of the tournament, the Turkmen judoka was defeated by Yensong Park from South Korea, getting into the round of "consolation" duels.

In them, Pardayeva was stronger than Uzbek Shukurjon Aminova and Chinese Ki Kai, thereby winning the bronze medal of the championship.

Recall that the Asian Games are held from September 23 to October 8. Initially, the XIX Asian Summer Games in Hangzhou were planned to be held from September 10 to 25, 2022, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition was postponed to 2023.

In total, more than 15 thousand athletes from 45 Asian countries take part in the Games. 481 sets of medals in 40 sports are being played at the Games.

Turkmen athletes represent the country in such sports as 3x3 basketball, boxing, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, jiu-jitsu, judo, kurash wrestling, karate, athletics, swimming, weightlifting and wushu.
