Turkmenistan intends to become a member of the WTO: what steps will be taken along this path


President Serdar Berdimuhamedov spoke in favor of developing a concept for the development of the non-state sector of the economy and the service sector, support for import-substituting production, as well as a strategy for promoting the development of the country's export-oriented industry.
Turkmenistan intends to become a member of the World Trade Organization, having currently the status of an active observer in this organization, we envisage significant development of the foreign trade system and logistics links, the head of state said, speaking at a meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty on Sunday.
In this regard, the President pointed out a number of measures that need to be taken, in particular, to conclude multilateral agreements on trade in goods, improve the insurance market, develop international partnerships in the field of standardization, increase cooperation with the largest world and regional commodity exchanges, integration national commodity producers and service providers into the global trade system and the creation of a wholesale trade and logistics center to increase the export of Turkmen products to foreign markets.
