Scientists in Russia and China have created nanocapsules to deliver the drug to tumor cells. The capsules are based on iron oxide nanoparticles and stabilized with nylon. Anticancer drugs can now be “transported” directly to the tumor without affecting healthy tissue. An article describing the new development was published in the journal Magnetochemistry.

To work with nanoparticles, scientists used the polymer nylon-6 (nylon), which is completely biocompatible, biodegradable, non-toxic and is already used for biomedical purposes - surgical threads are made from it. The capsule has a number of advantages - it accurately hits the target and allows you to avoid harming healthy cells of the body. In addition, several substances can be packaged into one capsule and thereby increase the effectiveness of therapy.

Novosibirsk scientists are working on the project together with Chinese colleagues from Guangzhou Medical University. Tests are currently underway on cell cultures, and then they will move on to animals. Scientists have already applied for a grant from the Russian Science Foundation. If the development turns out to be effective, Russia and China will receive the right to use it.
