The volume of rail transport between Turkmenistan and Russia along the international transport corridor "North — South" in January-August 2023 increased by 57% compared to the same period last year.

This was told by the General Director of JSC "Russian Railways Logistics" Dmitry Muraev at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, TASS reports.

Murayev noted that the volume of railway traffic is growing, in particular, through border crossings between Turkmenistan and Iran.

"We can confidently predict the further strengthening of Turkmenistan's role in the development of the North—South ITC and an increase in the volume of rail transport," concluded Murev.

Previously ORIENT reported That the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan, together with Russian Railways Logistics, launched the transportation of containers from the Selyatino railway station in the Moscow region to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas as part of the development of the eastern branch of the North-South international transport corridor.
