Ministry of Energy of Pakistan: Agreement with the government on TAPI will be concluded in October
Pakistan and Turkmenistan have agreed to promote work on the Turkmenistan- Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.
An agreement on this matter was reached during a meeting of Interim Energy Minister Muhammad Ali with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan Atajan Movlamov on Thursday in Islamabad, reports ProPakistani.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to hold regular meetings of the working group to review the progress of the TAPI project.
Speaking on this occasion, the Interim Minister stated that the TAPI project is essential to meet the growing energy needs of Pakistan.
In this context, it is expected that an agreement with the host Government (HGA) will be concluded by mutual agreement in October. In addition, frequent meetings of the working group on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Electric Power Project (TAP) will be held to accelerate the implementation of the project, he added.
According to him, the TAPI project will not only help meet the rapidly growing demand for energy in the country, but also provide great opportunities for regional connectivity and accompanying economic growth.
Earlier, in June 2023, Pakistan and Turkmenistan signed a joint plan for the accelerated implementation of TAPI.
In July, the Pakistan Investment Promotion Council listed the TAPI project as a priority for attracting Arab investors.
