France for the first time entered the top 3 countries in the world in terms of the number of millionaires, losing the first two positions to America and China, respectively. However, it took the first place in Europe as the country where the largest number of rich people live, whose wealth exceeds a million dollars, according to the report "On global welfare" published on the website of the Swiss bank UBS.
The fifth republic also surpassed Japan (4.6%), Germany (4.4%) and the United Kingdom (4.3%) in this ranking for the first time. The number of millionaires in France has reached 2.8 million people, which is almost 5% of all the rich with a million. The leadership in the rating is traditionally held by the United States – 38.2% of millionaires (22.7 million people). China's second place is 10.5% (6.23 million people).
According to the report, the total number of millionaires in the world over the past year decreased by 3.5 million (from 62.9 million to 59.4 million), and this trend is observed for the first time since the global financial crisis in 2008.
Millionaires from the USA, Japan, Great Britain, Australia, Germany have become "impoverished". But in Norway, Iran and Brazil, on the contrary, the number of people with a fortune of over $ 1 million has increased. In France, for example, there are 25 more such people.
