Turkmen para powerlifters will perform at the World Championship in Dubai


Turkmen para powerlifters will take part in the World Championship, which will be held from 22 to 31 August in Dubai (UAE). This was reported to ORIENT in the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the country.
The composition of the Turkmen delegation for the upcoming world championship was formed by 13 people, including 10 Paralympic powerlifters: Mekan Agalykov, Maya Dzhaparova, Mayagozel Ekeeva, Roza Matyakubova, Sergey Meladze, Lachin Bayramova, Bayramgeldi Saparov, Ishkuvat Charyev, Dovletgeldi Amanmyradov and Ovezgeldi Ordzhiev.
The main favorites of the tournament are the champion of the 2008 Summer Paralympic Games, the Egyptian Osman Sheriff, the Jordanians Omar Karada, who is the champion of the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo, and Abdelkarim Khattab, who broke the world record three times at the World Championships in 2022.
Para powerlifting is a Paralympic sport for persons with musculoskeletal disorders. During the exercise, the athlete demonstrates the strength of the upper body.
The Para Powerlifting World Championship will bring together over six hundred participants from 79 countries who will compete for qualifying points for the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.
