The Russian House in Ashgabat held a creative event dedicated to the International Day of the Caspian Sea and gathered dozens of young participants whose attention was focused on environmental protection and the ecology of the sea.

In her address, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan Yulia Zaitseva noted that the Caspian Sea is an amazing water phenomenon of nature, which has preserved more than 500 different species of flora and 850 representatives of fauna. Most of them are listed in the Red Book.

The participants also shared their knowledge about how to contribute to the conservation of nature. For example, they told how they save water and electricity, sort garbage, use eco-bags and bottles, participate in volunteer actions to clean up territories, etc.

In addition to communication and information exchange, the participants of the action also showed creative skills, creating works on the theme "The Beauty of the underwater world" in mixed media – acrylic drawing with using texture paste and potal decoration (imitation gilding).

"Today, other Caspian littoral countries are making tremendous efforts to preserve and develop this natural wealth and biological water resources of the sea," Yulia Zaitseva, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan, commented in an interview with ORIENT. - Caspian Day is another occasion for all of us to remember our personal responsibility for the conservation of marine resources and the prevention of environmental pollution, so that for a long time, many, many generations could be proud and admire the extraordinary miracle - the Caspian Sea.

The Caspian Sea Day has been celebrated since 2007 on August 12 – on this day in 2006, the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea entered into force. By this date, scientific forums, exhibitions, educational events for young people are organized, aimed at attracting public attention to the issues of environmental safety of the sea, maintaining and preserving its unique ecosystem.
