The second largest Azerbaijani city - Ganja - will host the third Games of the CIS countries. Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Mariana Vasileva told journalists about this, TASS reports.

III Games of the CIS countries are scheduled for 2025. Earlier, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan Azer Aliyev said that the country's authorities expect to ensure a decent level of organization of the competition.

“The third Games of the CIS countries will be held in the city of Ganja - this is the second largest city in Azerbaijan after Baku, a new modern complex is being built there. We liked the idea that competitions could be held in regions. The format will be discussed in the council. Any country focuses on more developed sports, I think we will focus on the main Olympic sports and traditional non-Olympic sports for all countries,” Vasileva said.

On Saturday, the opening ceremony of the II Games of the CIS countries took place in Minsk. “We saw a grand opening. Initially, the idea was that these Games would be more for young people, but now we are seeing changes in the format. I think we will continue in the same spirit. A low bow to the organizers - from the first day, from the first step at the airport, you see with what soul all Belarusians want to show their hospitality. We knew what a hospitable people they were, and now we are even more convinced of this,” she added.
