Afghanistan exported products to the USA for the first time – this is pomegranate juice
The Afghan Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that a batch of drinks with pomegranate juice was exported from Afghanistan to the United States for the first time. The drinks were produced by a company in Herat.
The export of this domestic product, according to the official representative of the ministry Akhundzad Abdul Salam Javad, is a significant step in the growth of the country's economy, TOLOnews reports.
"Recently, two containers of 45 tons each with pomegranate juice drinks from Pamir Cola company were sent to America. Drinks were also shipped to Germany and Kazakhstan, there are plans to expand in this direction, we could increase our exports to other countries," the representative said.
The sales manager of this company told TOLOnews that Pamir Cola also supplies to Iran, the UAE and Central Asian countries. A batch of soft drinks was exported to California, USA, through the port of Karachi.
According to the statistics of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, currently 15 types of products from this industrial city are exported to various countries. This year, the volume of exports from Herat increased by 11% compared to last year, and its value amounted to $ 110 million.
Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan stated that in general, the country's exports this year exceeded $ 350 million. Most of the exports (mainly fresh fruits, dried fruits, carpets and saffron) are to Pakistan, India, China and Iran.
Afghan producers hope to attract more investment to create new processing plants and jobs. The recent industrial exhibition in Kabul with the participation of hundreds of local companies and representatives of Iran, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Pakistan, which culminated in the signing of trade agreements worth $45 million, was also aimed at this.
