By 2027, all smartphones in the world will be with removable batteries again

A new EU law has obliged smartphone manufacturers to produce devices for the European market only with removable batteries by 2027.
This means that all large companies, including Apple and Samsung, will have to create the next generation of smartphones exclusively with removable batteries, because it will simply be unprofitable to produce so different configurations of the same device for different markets.
The law was adopted so that the devices were more maintainable, and users could replace the batteries themselves, without having special skills. The EU hopes that this will lead to an extension of the service life of mobile devices and a reduction in the amount of electronic waste.
Probably, the new rules will lead to the fact that smartphones will become thicker in the future, because manufacturers have always justified the creation of devices with non-removable batteries by the fact that due to this they turn out to be thinner.
It is expected that many manufacturers will be unhappy with the new law, especially Apple. The company has long resisted the introduction of a single standard for connectors in smartphones — USB-C, approved by the EU last year. She tried her best to keep her unique Lightning connector but could not succeed.
