Taliban foreign minister asked Russian ambassador to simplify issuance of Russian visas to Afghans

Minister of Foreign Affairs in the interim government formed by the Taliban, Amir Khan Mottaki, held a meeting in Kabul with Russian Ambassador Dmitry Zhirnov. This was reported by TASS on Saturday, with reference to the TV channel TOLOnews.
According to the channel, during the meeting, "Mottaki asked the head of the Russian diplomatic mission to simplify [issuing Russian] visas to Afghan businessmen and citizens."
It is noted that the parties also discussed holding a meeting on Afghanistan in the Moscow format (it was created in 2017 to promote the process of national reconciliation in the country; it included Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan). Mottaki stressed that meetings in this format play a "critical role in establishing coordination at the regional level."
