Iraq thinks about the possibilities of importing gas from Turkmenistan

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, during a meeting with Iraqi officials in the energy sector, instructed to find alternatives to gas imports, as the country faces problems providing the necessary fuel for power plants. This is reported by IraqiNews.com with reference to the statement published by the Office of the Prime Minister.
Al-Sudani confirmed that the current government has taken measures to achieve electricity production of 26,000 megawatts, which is the highest in the history of Iraq, but maintaining this level was due to the continued supply of Iranian gas.
However, problems with payment led to a 50% reduction in these supplies, which negatively affected electricity production in Iraq.
Although Iraq is working to increase gas production through many megaprojects, Al-Sudani instructed the Iraqi government to find alternatives and quick solutions and continue the efforts initiated to import gas from Turkmenistan and Qatar.
The Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry of Oil to cooperate with international companies in the development of energy fields and stressed the need to accelerate the completion of solar power generation projects.
