The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the General Assembly of the OCA in Bangkok


The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Berdyniyaz Myatiyev on Saturday, July 8, took part in the 42nd General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), which is being held in Bangkok, Thailand.
45 delegations of the National Olympic Committees of the OCA, as well as heads and representatives of the OCA bodies and the International Olympic Committee are represented in the work of the General Assembly. Chief Secretary of the State Committee for Physical Culture A.Akmammedov also took part in the Turkmen delegation to the Congress.

Elections of the President of the OCA and members of the Executive Committee were held during the Assembly. The head of the OCA Rights Committee, Sheikh Talal Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, was elected by a majority of votes as the new president of the OCA for 2023-2027. Timur Kulibayev (Kazakhstan) has been elected as the Vice-President of the OCA from Central Asia.
Upcoming events through the Council are also being considered. Thus, the Assembly approved Harbin, China, as the venue for the 2025 Asian Winter Games.

The OCA General Assembly also received reports from the organizing Committees of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) and the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
As for the 6th AIMAG, the General Assembly approved Thailand's proposal to postpone the Games from November 2023 to February 24 and March 6, 2024 due to a number of problems related to the political transition after the general elections in the country. In addition, at the request of Saudi Arabia, the postponement of the AIMAG 2025 to 2026 was approved.
