India to build 230-240 airports by 2030

Indian Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Shindiya said that by 2030 the country plans to complete the construction of 230-240 airports, helicopter pads and hydro aerodromes.
This is due to an increase in passenger traffic in the aviation industry from 60 million in 2013-2014 to 145 million people. This year, a one-day record was broken with 460 thousand passengers, which exceeded the figures before the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the minister, the fleet of aircraft in the country is expected to increase to 1200-1400 by 2030, and the annual passenger traffic by this period will increase 3 times and amount to almost 420 million people. He also pointed to the rapid growth of the air cargo industry in the country.
It should be noted that there are currently about 148 airports in India.
