Vienna to host OPEC seminar on energy transition

The 8th OPEC International Seminar will be held at the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna, Austria on July 5 and 6 on the theme "Towards a Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Transition".
The OPEC International Workshop is one of the highlights of the international energy calendar and is expected to help shape the future of the global energy industry and its just transition towards sustainability and climate change mitigation.
The event is being convened amid rising geopolitical tensions around the world, a state of global economic uncertainty and growing demand for energy.
It highlights the efforts of the Vienna-based Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to achieve sustainable development and preserve the environment by guiding the oil industry towards innovation and the adoption of modern technologies, according to Wam news agency.
This year's seminar will include a number of high level roundtables, ministerial sessions and exhibitions.
Seminar participants typically include ministers from OPEC member countries and other energy producing and consuming countries, as well as heads of intergovernmental organizations, national and international oil and energy companies, as well as other industry leaders, academics, energy experts and the media.
They will discuss key issues and challenges facing the oil and energy industry, including the energy transition, energy poverty alleviation, energy security, climate change policy, investment, technology and innovation.
“The OPEC International Seminar has an outstanding level of attendance and a high level of discussion on major issues affecting the energy sector, especially at this critical time for the global industry. We look forward to welcoming all our guests to Vienna for a truly memorable and educational event,” OPEC Secretary General Haytham Al Geis said.
