BelTA: Tajikistan proposed to develop a concept for further expansion of the SCO


Speaking at a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon proposed to develop a concept for further expansion of the SCO, BelTA reports.
"It is time to think about developing a concept for further expansion of the organization in the medium term," he said, noting that the SCO should take into account the ongoing changes and move on the basis of mutual respect.
Emomali Rahmon also welcomed the accession of Iran as a full member of the SCO and the signing by Belarus of a memorandum of obligations in order to obtain the status of a SCO member state.
The Summit of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization opened in New Delhi on July 4. According to the agenda, the summit will address topical issues of further deepening cooperation within the SCO, expanding and improving the organization's activities.
