Russia has its own ironic response to the Louis Vuitton microbag
The Russian creative bureau "Golden Tigers" has released a limited edition of bags that fit on the tip of your finger. This art project ironically rethinks the value of luxury and also draws attention to the issue of fashion ecology.
The five "huge" 5mm x 2mm x 3mm nano bags replicate the outline of a microscopic accessory recently released by New York-based art collective MSCHF as an extension of Louis Vuitton's on-the-go bag line. On June 28, the item was sold at auction for $64,000, almost 20 times more expensive than the original.
The authors of the Russian art project on its website write:
“There is an opinion that 90% of the Louis Vuitton bags that we see on the streets are fakes. They are terribly difficult to distinguish from the original. We've fixed it. With care for you, we changed the letter in the logo - LW - and increased the size, from 0.5 mm to 5 mm: after all, a bag should be practical and roomy! The handbag is suitable for: collecting eyelashes, carrying a grain of gold with you, standing out at the screening of the Barbie movie, surprising everyone in the anthill”.
The “Golden Tigers” did not stint on comments: “In the plane of modern art, this item acts as a metaphor for the real value of luxury goods - from the point of view of an ordinary person who has to fight for existence every day, while the golden 1% vying with each other spends money on everything like that bags of the holding of Bernard Arnault - the richest man on earth”.
“In terms of functionality, the LW bag is not inferior, and in some ways even surpasses the LV product created by colleagues from MSCHF. At least you can pose for social media with it without renting a microscope,” the company adds.
And they give another reasonable argument: “The more compact the goods of status consumption are, the less harm they will cause to nature. A banal crocodile clutch for 50 thousand euros, hundreds of thousands of identical eco-leather bags that leave a carbon footprint, or tiny products with minimal material consumption that will literally have to be cherished like the apple of an eye? The choice is clear!”
