Uzbekistan launches new container route from China through Turkmenistan


Uzbekistan has launched container trains from the Chinese port of Xiamen to Tashkent via Turkmenistan.
The first train is loaded with various household appliances - refrigerators, washing machines and gas stoves. It arrives from the Chinese port of Xiamen in the capital of Uzbekistan on June 25, after spending 14 days on the way, Podrobno.uz reports.
The block train consists of 39 forty-foot containers. From Xiamen they are transported by sea to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. Here the containers are loaded onto the train and delivered to Uzbekistan through the territories of Iran and Turkmenistan.
Earlier, Uzbekistan and Iran agreed to develop a multimodal corridor through Turkmenistan and reduce fees for Uzbek carriers.
