The Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held in Astana (Kazakhstan) from June 15 to 19, became a real moment of glory for Turkmen athletes.

According to what ORIENT correspondent has been told in the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the country, the national team was represented at the competition by 13 athletes who won a total of 31 medals - 11 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze medals.

Kayumberdy Dovletov climbed to the highest step of the podium three times, demonstrating the best result in all disciplines (full contact, closed contact, ground fight) in the weight category over 80 kilograms.

Eighteen - year - old athlete Shihberdy Rahmanov won three medals in the weight up to 65 kg . The athlete took the gold and made a silver double.

Islam Ovezov received awards of all merits in the weight up to 60 kg . A similar success was achieved by Muhammedali Gurbanov (up to 65 kg).

Isa Kassymov (up to 70 kg), Shatlyk Charyev (up to 80 kg) and Ahmed Tangryberdyyev (up to 63 kg) became the owners of silver awards, who issued two silver medals.

Mergen Durdyev (up to 70 kg) brought two bronze medals to the piggy bank of the Turkmen national team. Jelilmuhammed Hojamuradov up to (77 kg) took away bronze and silver awards from the tournament.

In the women's category, Gulperi Nazarova showed a decent result, winning three medals in the weight up to 53 kg. The Turkmen athlete was awarded two gold and one silver awards. Aysoltan Garchovova achieved a similar result in the weight category over 80 kg. Sayara Avezmetova (up to 55 kg) was awarded medals of all merits.

The Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held in the capital of Kazakhstan, brought together about 150 athletes from 16 countries.
