A new National Action Plan for the realization of children's rights has been approved in Turkmenistan

The decree of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the National Action Plan for the Realization of Children's Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023-2028. The new Plan has been prepared on the basis of national priorities set out in the country's Socio-Economic Development Program for 2022-2028, as well as key recommendations and best practices arising from the evaluation of the previous National Action Plan.
In 2022, UNICEF, together with the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, conducted several rounds of consultations and discussions with numerous partners and organizations throughout the country. As a result of this comprehensive joint work, a new plan has been developed, which has now been approved by the Head of State for implementation.
The new plan includes such important priorities as the rights to health, food, clean water, education, a safe environment, protection from violence, the rights of children to participate in decision-making affecting their lives, well-being and development, and others.
By developing and implementing the Second National Plan on Children's Rights, Turkmenistan reaffirms its commitment to fulfilling its obligations to protect children's rights and ensure the sustainability of the results achieved in the interests of children and their further expansion.
"UNICEF is proud to have been a part of this important work and is ready to support the Government of Turkmenistan and other partners in implementing this Plan so that every child in Turkmenistan can enjoy their rights," the organization said in a press release.
