A small group of the Institute of History and Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan discovered stone remains of the first inhabitants of the Earth in the Baherden district of the Ahal region. According to Turkmen experts, the materials found belong to the Proterozoic and Paleozoic eras.

This is reported by the chief researcher of the Institute of ANT Kakajan Bayramov in his article on the pages of the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".

The finds were discovered on the Gozyldag Mountain. They are shells of ammonites and mollusks, such as trigonia. They are in this territory in large numbers. The age of the remains is estimated at an average of 570 — 230 million years, there are also earlier finds up to 2.7 billion years old.

Copies were transferred to the Institute of AST. The initial purpose of the 9-day expedition of researchers was to study the historical, ethnographic, cultural, economic, household values of the population of the Baherden district, to familiarize with historical monuments, holy places, housing, crafts and folk traditions of the inhabitants of the villages and to collect materials about them.
