Turkmenistan participates in tennis tournament in Kuwait
Meshref, Kuwait hosts the International Professional Tennis Tournament, organized by the Kuwait Tennis Federation under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Men's teams from 27 countries, including Italy, the USA, Russia, France, Switzerland, Zimbabwe, India, the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Romania, South Africa, Belgium, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain, Croatia, Sweden, Norway, Canada, Turkey, Serbia, Bahrain and Lebanon take part in the competitions. The tournament is held in the category Futures for three weeks, with a prize money of US $15,000 dollars. According to ITF rules, such competitions, which are the initial step in the world of professional tennis, are allowed for both professional tennis players and amateurs. The rating gained in Futures serves as a criterion for admission to ATP Challenger and ATP world tours. The first week of contest, held from 30 October to 5 November, featured the winners from Austria, USA and Zimbabwe. In the course of the second week, Kuwaiti sportsmen has come to the fore by defeating rivals from Spain and India. The tournament will wrap up on 19 November.
