Turkmen students became participants of the meeting on SDGs in Ashgabat


A meeting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the framework of the book club "Kitap-paýhasyň çeşmesi" was held on Monday in Ashgabat. The action is designed to familiarize young people with the global activities for the implementation of the SDGs and emphasize the important role of the younger generation in their implementation. The event was organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Turkmenistan and the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi (TNIWL).

The participants of the meeting are students of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi, Turkmen State University named after. Makhtumkuli and the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management considered several areas of the SDGs: Goal 13 "Combating climate change", Goal 14 "Preservation of marine ecosystems", Goal 15 "Preservation of terrestrial ecosystems" and Goal 7 "Affordable and clean energy".

Also, UNDP experts proposed a number of topical issues for discussion - how to make cities more sustainable, reasonable consumption and waste management, the environmental crisis of the Aral Sea and international initiatives of Turkmenistan aimed at combating climate change, as well as the role of the younger generation in combating the climate crisis.

The next meeting will be held in August and will be devoted to the implementation of Goal 8 "Decent work and economic growth".
