Tokayev stated the need to reform the UN Security Council

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated the need for a comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council, without which it is impossible to solve the primary tasks of eliminating global problems. This follows from the speech of the head of state at the Astana International Forum, reports akorda.kz.
"The UN remains the only universal global organization that unites all of humanity. Meanwhile, we will not succeed in addressing the current challenges without a comprehensive reform of the Security Council. It is necessary that the voices of representatives of the "middle powers" in the Council sound more weighty and be heard," Tokayev said.
Thus, Kazakhstan has joined the ranks of other states that have been calling for reform of the key UN structure for many years.
The UN Security Council is the main body of the world's largest organization, which is responsible for maintaining global order. Its permanent members are the USA, Russia, Great Britain, France and China. The body also includes 10 more States elected for two years.
At various times, Brazil, Indonesia, Germany, Japan, Turkey and other countries have been in favor of expanding the permanent membership.
In March, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that the permanent membership in the Security Council should be acquired by the member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement.
