Russian Film Festival opens in Ashgabat


Days of Russian Cinema and Animation opened at the Ashgabat cinema theater on Friday and will last until June 14. In the foyer of the cinema hall, the organizers of the festival arranged photo zones with cartoon characters, quizzes and various competitions. An impromptu casting attracted the attention of the guests - children and adults were able to try themselves in the role of a hero or princess and other movie characters.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Russian Film Festival, Yulia Zaitseva, First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo, said that the film festival is timed to coincide with the celebration of Russia Day, which is celebrated on June 12. All film screenings that take place at the “Ashgabat” and “Berkarar” cinemas are free of charge - this is a gift from the Russian Fderation to the residents of Turkmenistan and guests of the country, the Russian diplomat noted.

The screening program included family and animated films. Turkmen viewers will see the hit of the Russian film distribution - the comedy "Cheburashka", which also entered the top 25 of the world ranking of the highest grossing films in 2023. The premiere of the film is scheduled for June 12.
The family fantasy "Magicians", two full-length cartoons - "Ivan Tsarevich and the Gray Wolf 5", "Cats of the Hermitage" and other films will also be shown.
