Orban: Turkmenistan can make a significant contribution to the diversification of energy supply in Europe

Relations between Turkmenistan and Hungary are predictable, reliable and based on mutual respect, Prime Minister Viktor Orban stressed in a press statement following talks with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday.
"We came here with good intentions and with a plan to expand and deepen cooperation between the two countries," Orban said, noting that his visit is taking place against the backdrop of a difficult situation in international politics, and Turkmenistan, like Hungary, stands for peace and diplomacy.
"The current situation increases the value of the entire Central Asian region, and there is a high probability that this region will become a bridge between East and West," he stressed, adding, "we need energy from Central Asia to come to Europe, and for this we need new sources, new routes, new infrastructure. Turkmenistan can become an excellent partner for Europe and Hungary in this.

According to Orban, Turkmenistan can make a significant contribution to the diversification of energy supply in Europe, but complex infrastructure and transport issues have to be resolved.
According to him, Hungary has a significant share in the supply of medicines to Turkmenistan, and after the negotiations there will be an opportunity for cooperation in the water sector, as well as, in addition to cooperation in the energy sector, both sides will promote new economic areas of partnership.
"We are planning to start teaching Hungarian in Turkmenistan, and we would also like to establish political and economic relations between the two countries with strength and depth corresponding to historical kinship," Viktor Orban concluded.
