A Turkmen student, posting a competitive video on Instagram, won a trip to Europe

A student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rahmangylych Annageldiyev became the winner of the EU regional competition #Reels4SustainableEnergy, organized within the framework of the project "Sustainable Energy Connections in Central Asia" (SECCA).

The creative review brought together university students, young scientists and specialists in the field of engineering, energy, environment and climate from Central Asian states.

According to the regulations, the contest participants had to use Reels (short videos on the Instagram platform) to show simple practices, the application of which in everyday life will help people, firstly, to save electricity significantly, and, secondly, to realize the importance of switching to renewable energy sources (RES).

The projects proposed to tell the general public about the advantages of renewable energy sources and their effectiveness, thereby increasing the environmental culture of young people and encouraging them to change their behavior patterns.

A third-year student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rahmangylych Annageldiyev, in an interview with an ORIENT correspondent, said that, relying on the rich experience of caring for nature accumulated by Turkmens over the long history of their existence, he tried to creatively rethink and reproduce by means of video art the importance of economical use of electricity through the use of renewable sources.

The video is based on a dialogue between father and son, during which the child, asking questions about the causes of natural disasters, ways to save electricity in everyday life, receives comprehensive answers.

The main goal of the competition is to promote the environmental and economic benefits of energy conservation, promote energy efficiency, increase public awareness of the relevance of the use of renewable energy and the importance of further development of the creative potential of the younger generation.

More than 60 people took part in the competition, six of whom were awarded prizes.

I place: Rahmangylych Annageldiyev, Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Turkmenistan).
II place: Aisuluu Kolbaeva, Snow Leopard Foundation Public Foundation (Kyrgyzstan) and Aruzhan Yerzhanova, TSATEK Green Energy LLP (Kazakhstan).
III place: Arman Makhambetov, KEGOC JSC (Kazakhstan), Mukhit Askaruly, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan) and Darkhan Zhaliyev, Intergas Central Asia JSC (Kazakhstan).

The main prize for winning the competition was a study trip to get acquainted with the European experience in the field of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and transition to sustainable energy.
