A woman became the head of the Central Bank of Turkey for the first time

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has appointed Hafiz Gaye Erkan as the new chairman of the Central Bank of the republic, who became the first woman in this post in the country.
Hafize Gaye Erkan was born in 1982. In 2001, she graduated with honors from the Bosphorus University in Istanbul. She holds a doctorate and defended her thesis on financial engineering at Princeton University.
Erkan also received additional financial education at prestigious Harvard and Stanford Universities.
